Volunteers Needed at the Johnson Preserve

CALC needs volunteers to spread wood chips on a trail at the Johnson Preserve on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 9:30 AM.

When you arrive, you will find volunteers directing you where your help is needed as soon as you see the hardwoods off the south entrance on 33 Road.

From the intersection of M-115 and Highway M-55 on the west side of the City of Cadillac; travel west on M-55 approximately 2 miles to S. 33 Rd. Turn left and follow S. 33 Rd south approximately 0.25 miles to the property on the east (left) side of S. 33 Rd. Entry is currently a two-track.

In July a band of volunteers constructed a partial trail at the Cadillac Area Land Conservancy’s Carl T. Johnson Preserve in Cadillac. Since the late August wind storm near the Preserve in Cherry Grove township, various timber harvesters have donated wood chips that CALC needs to spread over the trail.

The only skill required is the ability to have fun with other like-minded nature lovers. We hope to see you there. Please bring a shovel or rake and wear work gloves.

In case of inclement weather, or if there is a question of rescheduling, call CALC Chairman Larry Copley at (231) 876-0351.
