Volunteer Shrub Planting Day at the CALC Johnson Preserve

Thank you to the CALC Volunteers that sacrificed their morning Saturday, May 5th, at the Johnson Preserve. Their volunteering helped us plant trees and bushes on the preserve. With their planting work on Saturday, the animals will have a better habitat. We were glad the weather was better than we could have hoped for after this odd spring. Volunteers Needed for Planting at the Johnson Preserve

May 5th, CALC needs volunteers to plant shrub seedlings, along with placing tree tubes and weed barrier mats. There will be dense planting coverage for over 1.1 acres. Many hands will make light work. We will start in the morning and work until all the shrubs are planted. Any drop-in effort would be appreciated. No special skills are needed and everyone is welcome. Oliver Family Preserve in Harrietta – Need Volunteer?

We've made improvements to the Oliver Family Preserve in Harrietta that will make your trip there much more pleasant!  As you know, we have carved out a trail almost a half mile long with super water views much of the way. We spent hours pulling up roots and stumps that were tripping hazards. There are steps on both sides of the bridge over the Slagle Creek tributary.  A bench donated by Ann Kahner overlooks this Slagle Creek tributary (located to the left of the new parking lot). It was pr … [Read more...]

Volunteer Openings That Need You!

Vacation Coverage Office Staff: Eight weeks a year, drop in the CALC office 2 days a week for an hour.  Days and times are flexible for covering the vacations of CALC’s Secretary, which are never more than two weeks at a time. Skills needed include retrieving emails and phone messages, Microsoft Word and Excel, and on the job training will introduce you to membership database software.  You will gain an understanding of what it takes to make a conservancy function.
