Edge effect is created along the boundary of two different ecosystems or plant communities. Wildlife species can benefit from the variation of habitat between the two ecosystems, potentially increasing populations and carrying capacity. At this site, the two boundaries are the beech/maple hardwood stand and the managed opening.
